Activities & Resources
Deploy Action is a 501C4 social welfare group and NOT a member or trade organization. While the primary purpose of Deploy Action is to serve its social welfare mission (and not any particular member or group), there is a distinct set of benefits Deploy Action offers its supporters that align with the social welfare mission of the organization. These benefits include, but are not limited to:
Deploy Action will host a monthly call for supporters with key leaders in California government, which include commissioners, key legislators, and political appointees across the state government. This call will be educational and based on the policy priorities noted above. Leaders will present on a topic and then Deploy Action Supporters will have the ability to conduct direct Q&A with officials.
Deploy Action will put together quarterly stakeholder convenings with key California leaders both inside and outside the government. These will often be half day or full day convenings with the purpose of influencing leaders across California towards setting an abundant clean energy agenda that includes expansion of DERs, energy efficiency, data transparency, and utility scale clean energy construction. The first of these convenings will take place on January 23-24 at Cavallo Point, and will include 75 leaders from the state legislature, Newsom administration, labor and clean energy business community. These convenings will be paid for by Deploy Action and strategic partners. Supporters will only be responsible for their own travel costs & hotel (the Cavallo Point convening will include hotel stay).
The Cavallo Point event will include key energy regulators, along with assembly and senate legislators. Education of Deploy Action priorities will be weaved into the Cavallo Point event and will help set the stage for key energy legislation and regulatory priorities in 2025. Supporters will have a chance to make policy recommendations as a part of the Cavallo Point retreat / brainstorm.
After Cavallo Point, supporters will meet with Deploy Action and give input into the organization’s priorities for the year. Deploy Action consultant and former Assembly budget Chair Phil Ting will lead a weekly legislative call (during session time periods) for all Deploy supporters, once session is fully under way (post Jan 23, 2025). This call will give supporters weekly progress updates on Deploy Action priorities, and where they stand in the legislature & regulatory bodies within the state – Focus here will be on legislative priorities, but key regulatory issues may also be discussed as a part of the update. Deploy Action will continue to educate state leaders and advocate for its priorities throughout the year with the goal of enacting legislative and regulatory change that leads to clean energy abundance in California. Deploy Action will look to partner with other interest groups that align with its mission to enact its agenda.
As a part of its advocacy and educational outreach, Deploy Action will employ JCI Worldwide to get its message out on the need for clean energy abundance and for robust energy policy that advocates for data access, DER, and utility scale renewable development. Press activity includes social media outreach, strategic placement of op-eds in high traffic publications across the state, and messaging on key industry podcasts including the Energy Gang reboot set to start in January 2025.
All supporters will receive 1-year complementary onboarding and access to the Policy Pulse platform, which tracks, searches, summarizes, and interprets legislation within the CA legislature and proceedings at the CEC and CPUC. This will allow Deploy Action supporter to stay on top of the latest legislative and regulatory changes in California in real time.
